As a quick background to this project, my new web site, which will be launched in February, will sell superfoods, which are roots and fruits that have been ground into powder form. People use these products as a type of medicine, as each of the fruits and roots has a variety of medical and health benefits.
What I'm looking for is somewhat to write the product descriptions. Each product description will consist of:
- Product Overview -- A 5-10 line overview of the product.
- Health Benefits -- A bulleted list of all reported health benefits. This will most likely be 8-10 bullets, each about a (short) sentence long.
- Product Highlights -- A short bulleted list of only 5-7 items that will say things like Organic, Country of Origin: Brazil, High source of protein, etc.
- Detailed Product Description -- This will be a much longer description of the product, most likely the equivalent of a full single-spaced page in Word, and sometimes as much as two pages for each document.
Ideally, I would like to provide an HTML template, and the above information could be filled out for each product.
The information will be very easy to find. The main sources for the information will be Wikipedia and 3-4 competitor web sites, which have a huge amount of information. That will probably provide more than enough information, but if not, the information on these products is abundant if you Google for it. The job will be synthesizing this information from various sources. Most importantly, where information will come from competitor web sites, it will be extremely important that the description has a new voice and so doesn't look like it's been copied from a competitor.
There are 3 groups/stages to the products. First, I have 19 products that need to be done in order to launch the new site. Second, I have 8 more products that are ready to launch, and only need descriptions. Third, I have about 50 more products I would like to add, which I plan to do so over the next few months. However, we can write all of the content for these 50 or so new products now.
IMPORTANT: This project is much more about writing style than it is about research. The research will be quite easy, and I can point you to the sites to look at. What is really important is that you write clearly, and in a voice that sounds like a native American English speaker.
