I'm looking for someone who is willing to negotiate payment for a project that will benefit a gaming emulation community. I need a modified game engine; the original is written in Python and I'd like one written in C# using the ,NET framework. This project will eventually become open sourced under a GNU License. The source will be used to teach people to program C# and will offer server owners the ability to modify and create new variations of the project to fit their individual server needs. This project will not be sold or profited from in any way.
The following modifications in addition to what we already have are necessary for this project: in-game browser support via an object, an additional 25 game maps, a skinnable engine GUI, and the ability for server owners to expand art and animation slots. The details of what exactly needs to go into the engine will be discussed with whoever commits to the project. This is just a brief synopsis of the most important of the features.
I will be helping on the graphical user interface, anything you need I can make graphically; all I need are dimensions and you can tell me if it fits in with what you've done or maybe I need to go back and redo it. I'm just saying that I want to work together with you, except my time will be volunteered. Everyone in the community volunteers their time, however some of us decided to chip in and contract out this project so we can see it done instead of waiting for something that may never be produced.
Perks For You: (1) You can put your contact info in the headers of all of the source code which will give you some nice networking opportunities! (2) You get some money though none of us are rich so please be reasonable and we can negotiate. (3) This is an educational opportunity! My game server and website are dedicated to the fans of this game and my goal is aimed at teaching people C# (as related to the game server), animation, world building, and graphics!
You can and will be a part of all that with the source code at the end of the project. Instructions will be given on how to compile it, there will be documentation on where to edit what and how it will affect the server, and people can submit their own modifications for other people to plug into the game engine.
If you are interested in the project you should know that most people who will be using this are hobbyists; some are professional programmers and others are students or adults who just have a lot of time on their hands. I'm looking for someone dedicated to this so we can get it done; there are too many projects out there exactly like this one where people have volunteered their time and got burned out doing it. I'm looking for commitment and a final product; the alternative is wait years for someone to finally finish this project which may never happen!
Once again payment is negotiable until its agreed upon... but please be fair. Thanks so much :)
