I have a client who is looking to develop a project for a mobile application (or, if it is too expensive, then do t as web based only) whereas the user could take a photo of a body part such as a hand, and the system could detect the width and length of the hand. I do realize that perhaps a reference item must be placed into the photo (such as a logo printou) to help the program determine the correct sizing. I have seen similar things done before for distance sizing (such as measuring the height of a building).
Along with this, the user should be able to create an account with the website (could be set up separate from current website if need be) so that when they add their photo, the system knows which account it would be for.
Very important: To begin, please bid what it would it take to develop this on the droid platform first. Then, send us a message of what it would take to develop on other blackforms such as iphone and blackberry.
Lastly...if this project is too expensive, client may wish to develop a web only application whereas the user could take a photo and upload it to the site and then use the tool on the site.
The best way to think about this is one of these tools that allow you to do funny things with your photos where as you note where your eyes or ears are, and the it adjusts your photo accordingly. With this, we would have the user note (perhaps through sliding bars) where the edges of the hand would be.
