The purpose is to initially create an English blog for an annual charity event that will take place on the 27th May this year. The event consists of bicycle tour around Lake Geneva (CH) with as purpose to generate funds for an orphanage in Ghana (Africa).
The blog has to be attractive but not overly sophisticated, probably the simpler the better given the topic we are dealing with. With the blog we like to encourage friends, acquaintances around Lake Geneva to participate in this big event and help us to find or be a sponsor(s). The blog is event specific, subsequent releases would inform people how the organization is unfolding and of specific training or merchandising activities. Ideally the blog allows people to interact, sign-up for the event and possibly post their training results from mobile applications like map my tracks see: http://www.mapmytracks.com/. But this maybe asking too much.
As source material for the blog design we have available:
- Webpage of the organization that organizes the annual cycling event. See http://www.cyclotour.ch/cms/. Please note that this event attacks more then 2'500 participants p/yr.
- We have some written material like a few newsletters describing the Orphanage in Ghana.
- We have two logo readily designed that we would like to use.
In the future, we are considering to make a specific web page for the orphanage. As a typical example of what we have in mind, please see http://www.meetkate.nl/
In terms of timing and infrastructure; we would like to have the blog life by the end of this month. We do not have a current server to host the blog, but one of us works with http://www.hostpoint.ch/ , an organization that we could possibly and easily use.
Hopefully this provides enough information concerning this project.
